Moscow Mule Monday {Hot, Hot, Hot}

Shelbi GustafsonBy Shelbi Gustafson, Blogger of the Month for July

What’s better in this hot July heat than sippin’ on a yummy, ice-cold drink? Especially if that ice-cold drink happens to be a Moscow Mule!

Moscow Mule

If you’ve never heard of a Moscow Mule, don’t worry — I hadn’t heard of one or had one until earlier this year. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. It’s definitely my go-to summer cocktail, so I wanted to share it with you today. There are two reasons that I absolutely love this drink: 1. It’s super yummy! 2. It’s extremely easy to make!

To make a Moscow Mule you only need a few ingredients, which I will share with you in a minute. But first I want to share the most crucial part of this scrumptious drink. The mug. Besides the fact that the mug looks cool and people will automatically be able to spot what drink you are having, it does have an important role. Why is the infamous copper mug so important, you ask? It keeps the drink extremely cold, which is why it’s better to drink straight from the mug, not through a straw, as the mug will be icy cold to the lips. This makes it the perfect drink on a hot summer day!

Moscow Mule

6 oz. ginger beer

1 1/2 oz. vodka

Half a lime

Pour the ginger beer and vodka over a generous amount of crushed ice (preferably in a copper cup). Squeeze the lime into the mix and stir. Add lime slice and mint leaves for effect.

    I think I have a new favorite cocktail! One of my friends had a question, though, and I assumed I knew the answer but i thought I should check. Do you use ginger beer that is like root beer (i.e. non-alcoholic) or a beer that’s infused with ginger?

    Thanks, Shelbi! Happy sipping!
