Meet Mindy Young: Blogger of the Month for November

Howdy! I’m Mindy Young and I am thrilled to be the Blogger of the Month for November. I’m a brand new blogger from Northeast Kansas and I love it so far!

To be exact, I started on November 7, 2014.  The theme for my blog is Rural Life and Wellness.  I absolutely adore telling people my stories and also giving educated and experiential advice about topics I’m passionate about.

My passions are faith, agriculture, fitness, homesteading and being self-reliant, parenting, and living a happy and fulfilled life.  I believe that everything happens for a reason, so in turn, I try to make the best out of every situation whether it be positive or negative.

My wonderful husband and I have a 17-month-old daughter and our own farm with corn, soybeans, cattle, meat goats, chickens, and hay in Atchison County, Kansas.  As you can imagine, this keeps us very busy.  You can read about our adventures on the blog: Farm Fit Mama.  Not only do I include stories about our rural life as young farmers, but I also include tips and recipes associated with rural living and wellness topics and photos that I take around the countryside.

Even though I’m a new blogger, I jumped on the Blogger of the Month assignment because the theme is Fitness in the Fall!  I didn’t even think twice!  My passionate hobby for fitness and health started in college just 10 years ago with a 6 a.m. deep water jogging class. Since then, I’ve ran a half marathon, gotten pregnant, had a baby, competed in short races, and became a Les Mills Certified Instructor.  My fitness journey has not only made me healthier, but the wealth of knowledge that I have gained from research, answered questions, and experience has made me grow as a fitness coach and as a person.

I’m so excited to enter the blogging world and to connect with all of the fantastic bloggers in this industry.  I’m hoping this assignment not only allows me to grow and learn as a blogger, but also to gain connections and friendships.

    Welcome, Mindy! We are so glad you’re here. The fitness tips I need have to do with motivation and getting started. Also, how to just stay in shape, not necessarily train for a marathon (not gonna happen, sorry!). How do you encourage people to start if they’re feeling defeated by weight gain or physical limitations?

      Erin,

      I’m so embarrassed that I didn’t see your comment until just now!! How I encourage people to start is to just change one thing in their life. That could be going for a 10 minute walk on the treadmill or jogging in the water. Water exercise is amazing for people with physical limitations! But really, people have to have the right mindset before they start so I always tell them they can do it and to try to encourage them to try something new.
