Meet our April Blogger of the Month: Desiree Morris

Desiree Morris

Hello out there! I’m so excited to be the Blogger of the Month. Really. My name is Desiree Morris. I am a stay at home mom + stepmom, blogger, and tornado survivor. I hope you’ll join me as I write about this month’s theme No Rain, No Rainbows. April’s theme resonates with me just as much as the quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” If you ask me, that quote is intertwined with this month’s theme.

May 22, 2014, will be the three-year anniversary of the Joplin tornado. If you live in Southeast Kansas you’ve probably made a trip or two to Joplin, Missouri. I grew up and went to school in Southeast Kansas. It wasn’t until after I graduated high school that I decided to leave my home state and live in Joplin. Well … I was living in Joplin until I got an eviction notice from an EF-5 tornado on May 22, 2011. That day was the day I became The Miracle Momma.

I could rehash all of the negative things that happened after the tornado. Sure, I might have lost my home. Sure, I happened to have a near-death experience while pregnant with my son. But you know what? There was a lot of positivity which came out of that day. I moved back to Kansas, and I’ve made some wonderful mommy friends. I met the most caring people who helped us furnish a home. If it wasn’t for being in the tornado I don’t think I’d ever have the courage to start a blog. I wouldn’t be here writing during the month of April for all of you.

There may be times when the rain won’t seem to let up, but after every storm there’s a rainbow. I’m living proof.

In the meantime, if you want to learn more about me, I invite all of you to check out my website The Miracle Momma. It’s  my little space in the blogosphere where I write a little bit of everything. You can also find me on FacebookTwitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

So glad to meet you! – and yes, I’ve been to Joplin often! My oldest daughter went to college there! So thankful you survived and looking forward to getting better acquainted with you!
