April Blogger of the Month: Dani Stone

easter pp 1 2013Hello fellow Kansas Women Bloggers! I’m happy to meet you as the inaugural blogger of the month. I’m a wife, mama and writer. I’ve been married to my Dougie for 14 + years and we have two adorable and precocious children, Jacob and Katie. I’d rather have a steamy mug of coffee than the most expensive glass of wine and I have a sugar wafer addiction I really must get control of.

In addition to my website/blog (danistone.net), I’m a published author, freelance writer, editor and monthly contributor to the booky goodness site, Book End Babes – AND – Full time contributor to the humorous pop culture/news blog, Chick-Wit.

My first published short story, NO PLACE LIKE HOME appears in the winter anthology, Sleigh Ride. Weee! My second published story and debut novelette, NEXT LEFT was published in 2012. Available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

I love to read as much as I love to write so my editing/guest-blogging gig at Book End Babes is the perfect fit.

I’m excited to be a cast member for Listen To Your Mother 2013 in KC. One night. One Stage. Celebrating Mother’s Day with a national series of original live-readings shared on local stages and via social media.

I’m proud to be founder of VOGM Parents.org, an organization created after my daughter, Katie, battled a rare brain disorder, Vein of Galen Malformation, and won.

When I’m not writing for work or world peace, I’m embarrassing my husband and children by sharing our personal lives on my personal blog and really, anywhere I think I can get away with it.

I’m currently writing a book about our experience with VOGM and the treatment we sought in New York. I’m sharing our tale to raise awareness and secretly hope to score an interview with the dreamy Brian Williams from NBC News. In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing about how blogging has helped me launch a platform to raise awareness for VOGM and how reaching out to others who share your circumstances can be helpful for both you and them.
